Ara Pacis Museum on a Map

The Ara Pacis Museum is in a kind of tucked away location, but this map should help you find it when in Rome!

Josef Koudelka. Radici

January 1 to April 11, 2021 (planned)
The dates indicated may be subject to change.

An exhibition dedicated to the great photographer of the Magnum Photos agency who offers his photographic and artistic interpretation of some of the most important archaeological sites of Roman and Greek culture with the aim of restoring their authentic beauty.

The Vestiges project, in which the great photographer Josef Koudelka, a member of the Magnum Photos agency, has been involved for over twenty years, proposes his photographic and artistic interpretation of some of the most important archaeological sites of Roman and Greek culture, in an itinerary through twenty countries, from Greece to Lebanon, from Syria to Algeria, from Turkey to Italy and over two hundred places that overlook the Mediterranean Sea.

A truly unique exploration that is unprecedented. A job made of great constancy and perseverance. The artist cultivates a particular predilection for ruins, without celebrating their melancholy atmosphere but with the aim of restoring their authentic beauty. His intent is to use art to regain possession of a world that is escaping us and that we could lose. Transforming the rubble into hope: this is the great and ambitious project that Koudelka tries to achieve with his exceptional journey. A journey in constant evolution that is enriched with new chapters
